Domestic Partnerships

A domestic partnership is an agreement that defines a relationship between a couple who cohabitates but, for one reason or another, does not get married. With no marriage, the law doesn't recognize the couple as partners so the domestic partnership formalizes the relationship. It can be used by both straight couples and gay couples. Often, it includes specific agreements about shared property and may be part of an estate plan.
