Absolute Divorce

Healers of Conflicts Law & Conflict Resolution Center will file your uncontested absolute divorce.

North Carolina requires one year of separation before filing for divorce. You don't have to have a separation agreement but you do need to resolve any issues about spousal support, property, and child custody before you file for divorce.

Once all the issues are resolved (generally in a separation agreement), the uncontested divorce is an administrative process involving preparation of a Complaint, Cover Sheet, Summons, proof of service, vital statistics form, and Judgment. Our clients rarely have to appear in court.

Necessary information:

  • You or your spouse must have lived in North Carolina for at least six months before filing.

  • Date & place of marriage

  • Date of Separation

  • Names, birthdates of children

  • Resolution of issues - either a separation agreement or recitation that issues were resolved & how
